Right Here is a public artwork that explores places through the memories of their inhabitants. Five citizens of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) sketched their paths according to their biographies. As a result the work provides a partial and individual knowledge of places through the identification of landmarks. The map does not give information on the names of the streets, as people usually reference to public or religious buildings, names of the areas or hotels in order to find their way around Addis Ababa.
This work has been made possible by the project DE.MO./Movin’Up II sess. 2012 (by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and GAI – Associazione per il Circuito dei Giovani Artisti Italiani) and the Italian Cultural Insitute – Addis Ababa.
