In terms of performance this is my favourite film in the series that we filmed for The Post Office. It was great working with the kids in the recording studio and getting them to dis each other! We had a certain amount of flexibility in the script and this made it possible to have a little more fun with the little ants argument. Likewise the wobbly handheld feel to our camera helped capture the rough and tumble of twin boys at play. Mind you I was asked to tone down the animation in the bit where one of the ants gets strangled in a headlock!
We shot this one in Spain and spent a lot of time finding a location with suitable grass! Spanish grass is quite different it seems. On the shoot day it rained on and off all day. Luckily most of the time we were only having to light and film small areas at a time so hopefully you cant tell how wet it was when you watch the finished film!
The Dad ant is based on my own father, with matching beard, spectacles and belly!
