It has been three years since an oil pipeline owned by Enbridge Inc. ruptured near Marshall, Mich. and spilled more than a million gallons of heavy crude oil into the Kalamazoo River.

In 2013, InsideClimate News reporters Elizabeth McGowan, Lisa Song and David Hasemyer were the winners of the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting for their three-part narrative of the spill, "The Dilbit Disaster: Inside the Biggest Oil Spill You've Never Heard Of," and for their follow-up investigative stories.
