Tutor Matching Service is a central marketplace/tutor list where students can find university certified, high quality private tutors in any subject. Tutor Matching Service is free to all schools and saves time otherwise spent on maintaining tutor lists. Tutor Matching Service brings down the cost of tutoring on campus (average is $12/hour) and allows outside organizations and the university itself to easily subsidize tutoring for select groups of students, improving graduation and retention rates and the academic success of struggling students.
Many campus tutoring centers offer comprehensive free tutoring for students, though often in limited quantity or only in a select few subject areas and courses. Our service helps universities fill in the gaps, so a tutoring center can still help find a tutor for a student taking an upper-level Organic Chemistry course, for example.
Students, faculty, and educators can register as a tutor in our system, create a profile, set their hourly rate, and list their subject area knowledge. Students can browse our marketplace and filter for their perfect tutor match with confidence as every session is 100% guaranteed.
Quality is ensured through ratings, feedback, faculty recommendations and university certification. Universities can choose to certify tutors based on GPA, course grades, completion of tutor training, etc. Once a university certifies a tutor, a badge will appear on his/her profile. Our 20 university partners including NYU Poly, Purdue, IUPUI, and Caltech have all customized certification to fit their university's specific needs.
Many non-traditional, low-income, and first-generation students end up slipping through the cracks. For those who have trouble affording a tutor, outside foundations at Purdue, IUPUI and other partner schools have donated tutoring credits to such student populations.
Our aim is to make seeking academic help easy and affordable and since we share this goal with all passionate educators, we believe working with universities is key.
