This is one in a series of videos following the design and production of Phase III of the Unity Wall Mural project in Victoria BC.
In this video: The painting team for Phase III preps panels and sketches before the painting begins.
About the Unity Wall:
In 2009, to honour the traditions and history of the Salish Nations, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority sponsored phase I and II of the Unity Wall Mural, a project transforming the breakwater into an enormous canvas upon which established First Nations Artists and the young artists they mentor are sharing their stories with the world.
The response to the incredible, original artwork has been powerful and has spurred a vision to cover both sides of the breakwater with the largest mural in Canada, a public art piece that extends to the sea and creates a bridge between cultures.
As each phase of the mural is completed, it adds to the spirituality of a very special place in our history and culture in a profound manner. The support of public donations and corporate sponsorship will be necessary to continue to build the Unity Wall.
