Lanterns For Peace is an annual event held in Dodgeville WI to promote a non violent culture and a nuclear free world. There event is modeled ofter the Japanese Obon Festival, a homecoming to honor those who have gone before, Lanterns for Peace honors those killed in the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and offers a chance for reflection as lanterns are floated onto Twin Valley Lake at Governor Dodge State Park. The event is open to all, it features poetry, music, and a chance to participate by decorating a lantern and setting it afloat on the lake.
