Nimbo is an interactive mirror that anylizes user’s motion and his distance from the device in order to adjust the light’s shape and intensity.
The goal is to enhance the experience of the mirror using an integrated light that respond to the user behaviour.
It has been recognized, indeed, that the experience is twofold: it is possible to have a functional one, where the mirror answers the need of looking at our own figure, along with an intimate experience in which a user looks at the figure of himself.
For the dissertation, I presented a early prototype. I used Arduino to analyze the distance and a self-developed Max/MSP software to process the real-time video stream and adjust the integrated light.
