HARMONIC BRIDGE, O+A, 1998- present

"HARMONIC BRIDGE" transforms the sounds of traffic on the Highway 2 overpass into a cloud of tuned harmonies under the bridge. It makes a harmonic gateway between the MASSMoCA museum campus and the town of North Adams MA, where there was previously a cloud of noise. Two cement loudspeakers sited in the found "gothic acoustics" beneath the bridge sing in stereo in the key of "C" responding to the resonance building up in two 16 foot "tuning tubes" attached to the bridge itself. It was built in 1998, and rebuilt and retuned in 2013.
