This is my iMovie project for school. We were given a bunch of real "horror story" raw footage from a film made in 2008 and instructed to create a 30 second trailer for the film, citing our name in the opening seconds. We needed 12 edits, a few "non-cut" transitions, and at least 10 sound effects, with background music of some sort.
I hated the project. I didn't like anyone telling me how to do anything fim-related, creativity-wise. But then I realized that those were just boundaries, not rules. The project contains all of those things, but not in a way they expected, I think.
Pay attention to the story being told. The first part, and similar following footage tells the story of the two running into the woods, getting separated, and then attacked. The water sounds indicate the past, showing how they got to the car, starting with the most recent event, and working backwards.
