This interactive workshop is designed to help child welfare practitioners embrace the importance of involving fathers in the lives of their children, with a particular focus on non-custodial (or non-resident) fathers whose children are involved with the child welfare system. In order to provide context for this session, we will briefly review available research and data regarding how the absence of father involvement in children’s lives impacts child well-being. Additional discussion will be directed at understanding the impact of the involvement of non-resident fathers on case planning, decision making processes, and child outcomes.
