I shot this short film the week of July 25th through August 3rd of the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park (and National Park) located on the coast in Northern California between Eureka and Crescent City. I filmed and edited. I enjoyed this project as I have gone to this location multiple times since I was very young. Only 3% of the old growth redwoods remain...this is one of those untouched spots. It is absolutely stunning. Redwoods are difficult to shoot as there is no frame of reference to truly capture the beauty you experience in person. I decided to use the Glidecam 2000 to do many moving shots to give a person the feel of what it is like to walk through the forest and what they would see. I did lots of "up-side-down" camera shots to get the camera on the ground (moving through the meadow, over streams, clovers, etc.) I hiked all over that park to get these shots. I had over 680 clips when complete to choose from for my 2 minute short film. Those clips used came from the following locations at the park: Fern Canyon, the Prairie Creek Trail, Zig-Zag #1 trail, the Cathedral Trees Trail, the Brown Creek trail, the Revelation Trail, the Elk Prairie Meadow, the Campgrounds, the Nature Trail, and the Western Ridge Trail, the Elk Prairie Trail, and near Davidson Road, and the Elk Prairie.
