This piece was written by John Barry and Hal David for the theme music for one of the feature films James Bond. Steven Baker, Michael Manikus and I decided to arrange this piece in a brand new, slow and emotional way.
The very first recording we had John Barry and the team were sitting at the mixing desk in Abbey Road and John broke out saying "this is terrible, it's too slow, it needs to be faster". At first the producer, Simon Franglen tried to explain how we had to explore a new version of this classic piece. After hours of recording, we released the song and performed it at the Royal Albert Hall conducted by John Barry with a selection of musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra.
When the performance was over I was pulled aside and was told that John Barry now loves this arrangement and thought it was one of the best on the album.
