This press conference was Obama's attempt to increase public confidence in US government surveillance programs. In it, Obama said we're not actually hearing any cases of NSA/surveillance abuses. Maybe that's because there's a cloak of secrecy around these surveillance searches, and gag orders, and classified court rulings.
Obama, with a straight face, also said Snowden should have reported internally. History shows this kind of reporting only hurts those who report it. Just ask Thomas Drake and Jessalyn Radack.
