2012-2013, Centre for the Arts & Heritage, Alkmaar, The Netherlands

Commissioned by Municipality Alkmaar, The Netherlands.

In 1918 a clock was placed high in the wall of the former technical school of Alkmaar. Ever since the clock is ticking, unstoppable. Nowadays the building offers accommodation to 19 private homes and the Center for the Arts & Heritage. The Center for the Arts & Heritage unites the Regional Archive Alkmaar, the Archaeological Center North-Holland and the Cultural Company North-Holland. What the 3 institutions connects with each other and what them connects with the private homes is the time; as the live of the residents slowly passes away the Center for the Arts & Heritage collects, conserves and reconstructs that same live. Tik, Tak. At het same time the unstoppable clock tics the time away, the time revives in the pendulum of an invisible clock using the images of that live archived by the Center.
