Gasworks is a contemporary art organisation based in South London. It offers artist studios, residencies, fellowships and also has a regular events programme. The team at Gasworks also run a Participation programme that facilitates workshops, collaborations and events with local organisations and members of the public.
Gasworks is probably best known though for its international residencies, offering non-UK residents the chance to live and work in London for three months at a time. In 2011 Chilean artist Catalina Bauer undertook one of these residencies and as a result, was invited back in 2012 to be the first artist-in-residence within the Participation Programme.
Catalina is interested in informal collaborations, choreography and human-scale production lines – and so as part of her Participation Residency Catalina ran a series of workshops that involved large-scale group knitting.
Hear from Catalina about the experience, see what went on in the workshops and meet Gasworks Director Alessio Antonelli and Participation Producer Katie Orr.
