Entrepreneurial spirit is a human quality that springs up everywhere. And here in Sierra Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world, creative entrepreneurs are on every street corner and in every farmer's field.
Business Bomba is a competition that galvanises this spirit, calling on anyone with a good business idea to enter Sierra Leone's Lion's Den. Here they must defend their business idea in front of five Lions - the best and brightest of Sierra Leone's private sector.
Over 600 contestants, with ideas ranging from fresh juice production to cold storage to lemongrass oils production, enter the 2012 contest. Each contestant benefits from professional coaching to perfect their business plans, but only 20 finalists are selected to enter The Lions Den. The best plan wins a grand prize of 100 million Leones [$23,000]?
This short film tells the story of Sierra Leone's Business Bomba competition and how, with training, capital, ideas and hard work, small businesses can be grown even in the most disadvantaged situations.
