Wow! What a difference between 26 and 28. This is the point where this river goes from somewhat manageable to pretty full on for the best of paddlers. If something were to happen while in the meat of the gorge it would be a serious endeavor but I don't really want to talk about that. What I do want to talk about is how amazing this river is that it can be paddled somewhat safely from almost no water 4" to 30 ". However the difference between 26 and 28 through the gorge is enough to make me walk Powerslide and really feel the push through the main gorge. One rapid feeds right into the next quickly. I know of many trips at 30 and I can only imagine how the push continues. Its really hard to say what the level was for us today. The gage actually read 27" but we were riding the bubble. There was lots of water coming in all along the run. Thats why I would put the majority of the run at 28".
