Eria 'Sane' Nsubuga is renowned for his energy, passion and commentary on social issues in Uganda. Sane started his residency at 32° East in April and completed five months in the studio resulting in an exhibition at Afriart Gallery in September. The exhibition titled 'Abanene' (luganda for 'the big ones') included 17 paintings depicting powerful yet anonymous figures of Ugandan society. Sane included imagery of overweight men in suits with horns, symbolic of wealth in Uganda.
