The Notes Education Collective provides safe, comfortable spaces for people to discuss issues that matter deeply to our society, but aren't addressed in any real, meaningful way.
Since October of 2012 we have created open forums for people to discuss things that weren't being talked about anywhere else. Things like the growing wealth gap, inequality, sex positivity, sustainable living, and the intersection of money, power and oppression. The point of these often difficult discussions is not to feel helpless or depressed, but to share ways to change these dynamics and improve our daily lives.
The Collective started in the city of Arcata, in Humboldt County, California. At the time we were just a few friends talking about things we couldn't share anywhere else. We've now grown into a multi-functional network of young professionals, currently in four cities across the US, holding DIY events, open-mics, skill shares, and social discussions.
We are educating people in a way that advances our communities. Our spaces promote direct action and enable participants to yield tangible improvements on their own. Issues typically relegated to political soundbites are given context that allows them to be understood in relation to everyday decisions. It's not just what's happening, but why it matters.
Our collective keeps growing, and we want you to be part of it.
