Beyond excited! My first copy of my new book - The Flourish Handbook arrived today. Totes Emoshe! I've ordered 60 to sell at an event in September but they won't arrive until the end of the month. I couldn't wait that long so ordered a copy from Amazon. And it arrived today. Decided to capture this moment that means so much to me on video given everything that's happened in the past few months. I apologise in advance for getting all emotional like the silly sausage that I am :-) It's just, when I first started to write this book, my dad was fine. I wrote in the book about having gratitude for having my mum as my mum and gave advice for dealing with adversity and the importance of supportive friendships and how to make them flourish (among other things). That all became hugely relevant when my dad was diagnosed with cancer as I was putting the finishing touches to this book. He sadly passed away three weeks later on Fathers' Day. My ability to flourish, my resilience and core inner strength was put to the test as I tried to put on my brave face but I know that, despite being devastated at losing my dad as well as my mum, I am ok and I have so much to be thankful for still.
Human beings are resilient and, while I have moments of intense sobbing sadness, I am stronger and I am grateful to have had my encouraging and inspirational mum and dad as parents, and for all that I have now, for my daughter, mister and amazing supportive friends. The tag line for my website and the book became all the more evident as the book went to print: Yes, "this is your one and only life! Time to live it." I know my parents would want me to continue to flourish and help other people to do so, and so I shall do my best.
