Robin lane was brought to Tree House in 2009, after spending years as a house cat. More than four years later, eight year old Robin Lane has become a poster child of sorts for our Bucktown Branch. Hardly a visitor can spend any length of time here without noticing her. From her striking features, to her quirky demeanor, Robin Lane coyly takes center stage. She often props herself on a chair to greet visitors, and loves playtime. The cat charmer is her toy of choice! Ms. Lane is also very concerned with appearance, and was rarely willing to appear on camera without a proper grooming first.
Though outgoing, curious, and chipper, Robin can become overstimulated. She often sniffs a visitor’s hand, offers a few tender licks, and finishes with a few nibbles. The act of ‘tasting’ her greeter is often misunderstood as aggression, but it's likely just a product of the stress and anxiety former house cats experience in a shelter setting. To win Robin Lane's affections, simply don't insisting that she interact with you. Instead, let her initiate the contact.
Robin would adore a quiet human companion or two, with whom she could share all the love we know she has to give without competing with other cats. She would be simply overjoyed to go home.
