Per Anhalter quer durch die Gegenwart - Hitchhiking lateral through the now.
This is how travling Australia feels to me, just as the Australians love to say:
"No worries, she'll be right, mate!"
Life is like a game, you must not plan, but play it. Live in the now!
Ohrbooten - Autobahn
I drive on the autobahn (in a bus)
Then I see a rastafarian:
"I stand there at the roadside (by foot)
And try to hitchhike, yo!"
I stop at his side
And ask: "Ey, man, where to do you want to go?"
"I want, (yes?)to go chilling (alright), get to the feeling of freedom
I am (where?) already (ah!) on the way straight to it"
Alright, so I jump into the bus and ride a part of the way with him
Yeah, get in, roll a joint and lean back on this trip
And where do we drive to
Out of the Fata Morgana
Through every panorama into the Nirvana
And before that to the Dalai Lama
Once around the globe
2 or 3 or 5 times around the world
And if someone has to pee
Then there's a toilet in the bus
No reason to stop
Because life is like a huge Autobahn
Don't waste time thinking to much, but start driving
No matter where to and what way, we'll see about that
It will always go on
We drove through the desert
And through fields
Checked the forests
Hidden in deepest ravines
And at the pyramids
We nearly stayed
And climbed into valleys in Korea
And visited the Hebrew
And in Alabama we killed the odometer
When we were in Taiwan
We wanted to go to the Sudan
But we had no plan, man
So we came to Japan
With the rudder straight to Budapest, man, that was really great
Smoke blunts with grass from Kingston and cigarrettes from Havanna
Surf on Hawaii
In Shanghai we had problems with the police
That was interesting, what?
And then in Madagaskar
There was a freak from Alaska
Who made the best pasta ... basta (that's it!)
Conquered all countries
Chilled with all people
Admired every being
Got enough input
And what do we want to do now?
Well, let's think about it
I start to hammer
And I start to saw
We like to dissamble, ponder and put it together from anew
"Ey, what are we actually building here?"
I'd say it's a submarine
Close the scuttles, dive down
Into the deepest corner of the sea
Where undiscovered worlds hid until today
We explore all corners of the countries and seas
What's still left afterwards? Of course, the atmosphere
So build again
Weigh and forge, solder boards
Cable salad, program machines
And start to the planets
With lightspeed rockets
Sail with comets to intergalactial parties
We step into the next dimension
And there's no final destination beacuse we are always on the move
Life is like an Autobahn!
