June 20th, 2013:
I was on the beach with my family and - serving as the resident weatherman - had my eye on this cell to our north. For lack of reason not to, I set the camera up and started shooting time-lapse at a shot per second. Before too long, it became clear that conditions were rapidly about to change, and I quickly adjusted to 2 shots per second to obtain better resolution of the show to follow.
The ominous approaching structure prompted a closure of the beach and I watched in awe as I saw what was in front of the camera lens.
This was my first successful outing in which I actively sought a specific subject for time-lapse photography. I had only played around with my camera on a few cloudy days before this simply to get an idea of what settings I liked in particular situations. Given my inexperienced nature, I am quite pleased with the results!
Enjoy the view, I certainly did.
Filmed using a GoPro Hero3: Black Edition.
