Often times people living in busy cities will quickly fall into a routine that makes them become blind. They forget the simple and complicate everything else. They are merely just trying to survive. What happened to actually living?
This summer I saw that the city I was always so proud of actually had many of those people. Joining the working class I also noticed that I was assimilating into their culture.
Waking up fatigued.
Eating breakfast on the go.
Forcefully pushing myself into the train just before the door closes so I wouldn't have to wait for the next one, which at most would've only been an extra minute wait.
Looking down at my cell phone the whole time and only when it was my stop to get off I would then see my surroundings and the people around me.
Feeling stressed at work.
Counting down the hours till lunch break.
Counting down the hours till 5:30pm when I get off.
Scrambling again to the mtr to beat the 6pm crowd.
Get home. Eat. Sleep. Re-do all over again.
Sometimes you just have to slow it down, take it back a few steps, and enjoy all the beautiful things this world has to offer. You're just a small speck of dust compared to this great universe God has created.
You can do so much more.
