One of the wonderful parts of the gospels is that we get to hear Jesus talk, answer questions, pose some of His own. He always asked questions that dealt with the most important issues of life, and He never ducked the hard questions, or tried to hide behind “happy talk.” In our passage Jesus is going to be asked two important and significant questions by a very skilled lawyer, and then He is going to pose one of His own. Finally, Martha is going to ask Jesus a question, and behind all these questions are the things of life, the stuff we really struggle with in real life, the questions and answer we really need to be dealing with. We get to do a Q & A with Jesus.
