Short video describing my latest project: Linux Serial Commander. This unusual Arduino + Linux PC pairing intially started as a project to control a Raspberry Pi with a small display (for headless installations for instance).
The arduino, which acts as a dumb keys and monitor, interact with the python script running on the PC using its serial connection. Through serial, the host controls what is displayed on the arduino, and the arduino tells the host what buttons are pushed.
Currently I can control tmux, mplayer, and general shortcut keys. I built a file browser so that you can browse folders on the system, and execute scripts and play movies or songs with it. The file browser clips the filename so the beginning and ending of the filename are present, which is useful if your going through multi-part files.
