Time-lapse video of dust proofing a camera with gaffer's tape. This is an inexpensive way to keep out sand and dust. Plus you get to carry around a truly unique looking camera.
My artistic adventures have taken me many times into the heart of the Burning Man culture. After many attempts to protect the camera gear in the harsh elements and super-fine dust, I found this to be the best temporary solution to protect my gear.
The button areas consist of two pieces of tape, sandwiched together for full functionality (so as not to stick). The battery compartment, memory card door, and on/off button are easily accessible with the same idea. The tape repositions easily.
For removal of the tape, take your time and be patient. The rubber grip areas will have some sticky residue while the other areas of the camera should be clean. To clean the residue, use a very small amount of adhesive remover. A cotton swab works well with the remover as well.
This is a home-made creation and is meant to help ward off dust, sand, and other dry elements in the camera components.
