ANCHOR BABY tells the story of a 17-year-old Los Angeles teenager named Anabella. Anabella’s life was an ordinary mix of school, church, and friends, until the day her mother Yolanda, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala, received a final deportation notice from the U.S. immigration authorities. At any minute, Yolanda could be arrested and deported. Her only daughter, Anabella, would be left behind. They chose to take sanctuary in their church.
