This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel will air part 2 of “Al Nakba,” arguably the best documentary produced to date on the history of the ethnic cleansing and conquest of Arab Palestine by Jewish militias and terrorist organizations in 1948-49. Part 2 examines the reasons for and the consequences of the great Palestinian general strike and uprising from 1936-39 against British mandatory authorities and Zionist colonization. It was the largest and most sustained armed defiance of the British Empire in the first half of the twentieth century. This episode also examines the debate over the partition of Palestine that began in the late 1930s, the Zionist embrace of the concept of “population transfer” as a means of creating a Jewish demographic majority in all of Palestine, and the Zionist war of terror against Palestinian civilians and the British in the 1940s. This edition of our program will also feature brief reports on Gaza and the Israeli military-industrial complex by Press TV and the Real News Network.
