Summer 2013: We started in Keflavik (airport) and cycled to Reykjavik on the 41. Busy road and not nice to cycle on the main road. The same for leaving Reykjavik. But the city was lovely! Happily we discovered some cycle lanes and we cycled to Þingvellir, Geysir (Gullfoss) and to Flúðir, Arnes en Hrauneyjar.
One of the most beautiful parts of Iceland is Landmannalaugar! There we cycled in 3 days on the F208 to the '1'. From the Skeiðarársandur and the Breiðamerkursandur to the glacier lake Jökulsárlón. Then to Höfn and Djúpivogur. In Djúpivogur we took the bus to Akureyri. It took 7 hours and 412 km by bus to avoid a 'boring cycling' part of this beautiful country. Also the weather forecast wasn't good.

In Akureyri we had some resting days and we continued cycling on the '1' heading to Varmahlíð. We crossed Iceland on the Kjölur (F35) to the South in 4 days. Heavy wind! Mostly bad road conditions. Cycling is an adventure :-)
For the second time we arrived in Gullfoss and Geysir. Asfalt. On the road '35' to Hveragerði, Þorlákshöfn, Grindavik and then to Keflavik again (427-road).
