Want to dabble in creative coding or even just learning some coding basics?
Interested in Arduino and physical computing, but don't know where to start?
Oh, and do you have a penchant for NERF? (who the hell doesn't?!)
If you answered yes to any of these questions, saddle up Seabiscuit, as this workshop will be a wild ride into untamed territory!
Here's the breakdown of what you'll learn- use it to sell your boss, or spouse, on attending!
Creative Coding with Processing (morning)
A crash course into Processing starting from the ground up. We'll start with basic programming practices, syntax, and structure to create a simple drawing application. From there we move into manipulating video from your laptop's webcam and ultimately using it to track your face using OpenCv.
Processing + Arduino + NERF = Autonomous NERF Blaster (afternoon)
The afternoon session is more watch and learn as we discuss how the Arduino microcontroller works, practical uses at home or work, and a quick session on communicationg with sensors, buttons, servos, LEDs, etc. Next we'll combining physical computing with creative coding, and some duct tape, to construct an autonomous, as in running by itself, NERF blaster that will fire at anyone it "sees".
It's a BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) session, so it's not mandatory you have one. But you'll get more out of it you're a hands-on person.
