The temporary lighting installation took place in August 2013 in Nakashibetsu, Hokkaido.
The goal of the project is to create an entertaining experience for the residents in the area as well as to attract visitors.
The venue is a park with a small river and a sunken plaza surrounded by seating areas and slopes.
Taking full advantage of the topographic characteristics of the site, the two special lighting features have been designed.
- Aurora Waterfall
- Luminous Field
Together with the LED lighting installations, many lanterns crafted by the local community will be displayed in the sunken plaza.
This illumination event is planned to repeat every 6 months if not annually, fully run by the local communities. With possible addition of area and lighting equipments each time, the event is expected to grow big in coming years.
