NON SO COME STARE is the result of a research project on the identity of a generation. The work starts with a feeling of disorientation and exclusion against a world that has begun to speak another language. The remains of the romanticism of the Nineties? Perhaps, since this research is situated in that space between a self-determining identity acquired through the excess, rebellion and sagrilegious joy springing from those years and a world characterized by fluid and reversible values, that refuses to be polarised in clear and recognisible extremes, but fluctuates undefined and infinitely reversible. Within this setting stems the uncomfortable feeling of being an “outsider” , of being constantly late, always out of place. To be “late” and to be “out of place” traces the lines that generate the scores at the very base of this work, simultaneously imaginary, existential and corporeal.
