A prototype of Rosnes Bench, a new on-going commission for the Biosphere/Dark Skies Park area will be exhibited during the festival. Produced by artists Dalziel & Scullion, Rosnes Bench is a series of ergonomically designed benches, reconnects people’s senses to nature, helping them slow down, look and feel the natural world around them.
ROSNES WORKSHOP: Sensing The Landscape
Matthew Dalziel will be running a workshop on Sunday 2nd September commencing at 2pm at the SNH building at Cairnsmore. He will begin by introducing his studio’s new work for Dumfries and Galloway: The Rosnes Bench, thirty of which are currently being fabricated and will be installed throughout the area later this year. Matthew will talk about the ideas behind this work and the benches ability to encourage a different type of interaction with the landscapes they will be located in. Following the presentation, Matthew will invite workshop participants to join him on a short walk, where – with the aid of a ground mat and eye loupe – they will experience nature from a different perspective.
