Dr. Raymond Cox (Deer Creek Animal Hospital, Littleton, CO) reviews the benefits of laparoscopic-assisted cryptorchidectomy using a single-port technique and Biovision Veterinary Endoscopy's EndoDiagnostic+Surgical Suite (EDSS). Dr. Cox then covers the potential complications and provides related risk management guidance. From start to finish, the surgery shown in this video took just under 23 minutes and included not only bilateral removal of abdominally-retained testicles, but also a mini-exploratory of other abdominal organs such as the liver. The video provides strong evidence that laparoscopic-assisted cryptorchidectomy is a very practical surgery for the general practitioner.
NOTE: The equipment Dr. Cox used in this video was a pre-2016 suite; the next generation of the suite (available now) has a high definition HD camera, brighter xenon illumination delivered via fiber optic cable, and all-digital intelligent display terminal with LCD integrated media capture.
