The Indie Book Show in association with PEN International has developed a creative writing competition for young adults in developing countries. The first competition will be held in Sierra Leone, West Africa and made available to 40 schools across the country. There are three entry age groups: 11-13, 14-15 & 16-18 years.
Participants must write a fictional story of up to 2,500 words. The competition begins on 23rd September 2013 and the deadline for submissions is 31st January 2014. The winners will receive a one year publishing contract with Salmon Hall Publishers and all royalty proceedings from the book sales will contribute towards their school fees.
We want to inspire, encourage and acknowledge creativity in young people by promoting the prospect of independent, entrepreneurial writing in developing countries.
