This summer, teens from Redwood City, Menlo Park and East Palo Alto attended BGCP’s Summer Teen Center at the Moldaw-Zaffaroni Clubhouse. They engaged in career focused tracks that were taught by professionals in the field. Mr. Jahi, a musician and performer, taught the Performance Arts Track in which members built their own drums and worked together to create a final performance.
In neighborhoods where gang violence and tension between neighborhoods are all too common, 85% of teens who attended BGCP’s Teen Center said that they built friendships across different communities and 87% stated that they developed trusting relationships with adults. These relationships provide a foundation for our youth to build the skills they need for a great future.
