She stayed on the rooftop for a while. I went and talked to her some more because I wanted to make sure she was ok. That the flight didn't take too much out of her and she wasn't going to fall. If she was going to do that, I wanted to be there to pick her up again, and take her where she needed to go. Pour more water into her. See those signs of life again: the rapid blinking, the yielding to my voice, the warmth of my hand... When she took to wings one more time, she flew a 'thank you' circle around my head, and disappeared into a big tree.
I am this sparrow. And I know that we will make it.
