Planet Gong is a fascinating documentary that explores the unusual world of gong enthusiasts and gong healers. For the first time, footage of gong workshops and gong rituals alongside interviews with renowned Gongmasters gives viewers a chance to glimpse at a world they are unlikely to have come into contact with before.
The film explores the beliefs of Gongmasters and investigates how their unorthodox healing techniques work, ending with footage of a gong ritual performed by a Gongmaster student in front of a group of skeptical office city workers in London. Filmed in Sussex, Dorset, Devon and Scotland, the documentary features interviews with BBC Broadcaster David Hendy (Noise: A Human History), Audiologist Dr Simon Ravichandran (Glasgow Nuffield Hospital) and 80-year-old US renowned Gongmaster Don Conreaux.
Planet Gong was officially accepted to appear at Sheffield's International Documentary Festival in 2014. "Terrific characters and beautifully shot" - Louis Theroux
