Hike 3: Franceses to Santo Domingo
via the GR130 trail
La Palma, Canary islands
July 31, 2013
Hiked across the second half of the northern coast of La Palma via the El Camino Real Trail (Gr130). Highlights included more awesome coastal views, the deep Barranco de Los Hombres and Barranco Fagundo with it's endless steep and exposed switchbacks, large colourful caves to explore, semi - abandoned rustic houses, famous dragon trees, wind turbines, and a relaxing late afternoon stroll through the Santo Domingo with it's delightful plaza and expansive cliff top ocean views ... before enjoying a few pints of Dorada at a local bar. What a perfect way to end our longest and gruelling hike yet !
This hike was the third segment of our 7 day luggage transported hiking holiday co-ordinated by Ann and David at Holiday La Palma (holiday-lapalma.com).
