An adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's supernatural horror story. Two graverobbers steal a mysterious amulet from an island graveyard and revive a centuries-old curse.
This amateur adaptation of Lovecraft's story was photographed on SVHS video in and around Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the summer of 1997 and was edited at the Ann Arbor Community Television Network. The film premiered at the 1998 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon, and from 1999-2010 was distributed on VHS and DVD by Lurker Films LTD.
This shot-by-shot HD restoration, with new opening and closing credits, was assembled from the original SVHS camera tapes.
"Claustrophobic and intense"
~ Charles P. Mitchell / The Complete H.P. Lovecraft Filmography
"The combination of music, deeply shadowed visuals, and slow, tense pace make this little production far more effective than any single big-budget adaptation of Lovecraft's work."
~ Stephen Mark Rainey / Author
"A beautiful psychological mood piece that one quickly ends up comparing with the work of Val Lewton"
~ Richard Sheib / Horror Online
