In honour of the men executed in Texas - October 10, 2010 - THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY - In collaboration with Amnesty International Italy
NAMELESS FLOWERS - Inspired by Emily Dickinson’s Poem
MUSICAL SCORE: CATERINA CALDERONI - PERFORMANCE: BIANCA MARIA NERI
A PERFORMANCE SET TO MUSIC
During the performance a symbolic electric chair is transformed into a garden. Decorated with musical glass flowers and wrapped in white satin ribbon, on which are inscribed the numbers of all the men executed in the State of Texas, USA. As the winding ribbon embraces the chair, the name of the men is read out loud in the sound track. The profound effect of the visual transformation and symbolic liberation is experienced by the viewers as one realizes the consequence of ignoring this inhuman procedure of putting men to death.
