Do you know how hard it is to get an 8-week old puppy to stare into a camera?
While it was nearly impossible to get Rodger to mug for the video, he did show us a thing or two about emotional marketing.
Somewhere in the midst of Rodger’s sixty two failed takes, we came up with the catch-phrase, “Beyond the filling, sell the feeling.”
What feeling do you give patients before they walk out of your office? Have you merely fixed their teeth, or given them the sense that their entire lives are improved?
This is exactly how we wound up with Rodger in the first place. It wasn’t enough that Rodger was a cute Golden Retriever puppy. The breeder kept emailing pictures, suggesting our family life would be more complete with a dog like Rodger.
A local pet store also cashes in on this concept, posting hundreds of photos of happy pet owners with the words “Pets Make Life Better!”
For them, it’s not just about leashes and dog food. But selling customers a “better life” means they ring up a lot of fancy supplies in the process.
See how much more your patients value your work when they feel it’s improving their lives. It might lead them to accept more treatment, and put them on a path to greater oral health.
And if anyone is interested in a new Golden Retriever...I’ve got some pictures...
