I took Eden out to the Italio River for a "father daughter" weekend of fly fishing. She was nice enough to invite our friend Chris Smith along and while I was busy fishing for silver salmon, Eden gave Chris some "interesting" fly fishing lessons. Here she is explaining how to cast a fly rod.
Eden is now 10 years old and for the first time had the attention span to actually fly fish. She caught a dozen or so pink salmon on this two-day trip and about 6 nice silvers. The first day had mostly pinks (plus one small coho we ate for dinner), which was perfect for her to get the hang of things on smaller fish. Day two had many big feisty silvers, but by then she could handle them.
Not exactly sure where she picked up her double-hauling technique, but it is working just fine. Her terminology is a little "strange", but she is having fun and that is all that matters.
