Elijah knew all the highs of following God: victory over false prophets, miracles, and an intimate relationship with the Father. However, he also knew the lows of defeat. Just like us, he could be ecstatic at what the Lord was doing, and then soon thereafter, be ready to quit the ministry and even die. We can learn a great lesson from Elijah: in our darkest times, in those days when it seems there is no hope for us, what we need is not a miraculous example of His power but just a still, small whisper of God's Word to our hearts.
