Well the change of day weather wise was definitely the right move................ shame I errr "forgot" actually how much "portage" was needed!
Quote of the day has to go to some jovial (actually quite mad) walker who commented that "we weren’t cycling, merely hiking with un-wieldy hand luggage!" :D
Unfortunately the change of day meant a clash with other members plans but a big cheers to Geoff, Paul T, Dave C and Chris O for coming over.
The route was just under 25 miles, predominantly off-road with a lot of fun, technical and rocky trails to play on.......... causing a few too many “sphincter twitchers” along the way. Luckily there no major offs and amazingly no mechanicals or punctures either!
Although relatively short its an absolute classic ride in a gem of an under-used section of the Lake District. Starting at Staveley and crossing Gatescarth, Nan Biel and Garburn Passes, with a quick stop at the cafe in Green 2/3rds of the way round.
All in a cracking but long and tiring day.
