Epigenomics and Disease
Soo-Kyung Lee, Oregon Health & Science University
In the past decade, rapid progress has been made in the field of epigenetics. Epigenetics is the study of mechanisms that control gene expression or cellular phenotypes independently of changes in the underlying DNA sequences. Epigenetic marks include enzyme-mediated chemical modification of DNA or histones associated with DNA. In the session, we will discuss mechanistic basis of epigenetic modifications and how distorted epigenetic landscape may lead to human diseases.
