From 26th February to 3rd March 2013, The Student Agency (TSA, thestudentagency.com) led a group of students and alumni for an overseas mentorship trip to Sydney, Australia.
At the Circular Quay station, we came upon the fascinating Sydney Opera House, where I was inspired by the structure's exterior - something that many might not notice. When seen from afar, it may look seamlessly white. However, up close, the intricate chevron patterns made up of matte-cream tiles appear.
I was disappointed that we were unable to enter the Sydney Opera House. This motivated me to tell my own story and also to give other the opportunity to tell theirs.
When we came back to Singapore, we had Sydney Surfing. Sydney Surfing is an exhibition where young talents attempt to recreate the fond memories made during the trip. It serves as a platform for 11 exhibitors and their respective curators to showcase their own interpretation on their selected topic.

Visually inspired by Vivid Lights, a prominent outdoor annual cultural event featuring immersive light installations and projections, this exhibit is structured with layering of the shells to enhance it's dynamism through projections. Also, by incorporating the use of Chinese puppetry, a local culture that involves the use of shadow in retelling a story, there is a local touch to the Sydney Opera House that makes Singaporeans nostalgic.
