Gardens Beyond Eden
18 June 2013, The White Building
Internationally renowned art historian and critic, T.J. Demos unpacks the recent exhibition’s relation to conflicts in political ecology, including Donna Harraway’s positive take on GMOs and Vandana Shiva’s environmental activism. He looks closely at numerous artistic inclusions, such as And And And’s organic anti-capitalist kiosks, and The Otolith Group’s video The Radiant.
T. J. Demos teaches in the Department of Art History, University College London, and is the author of the two forthcoming books: The Migrant Image: The Art and Politics of Documentary During Global Crisis (Duke University Press); and Return to the Postcolony: Spectres of Colonialism in Contemporary Art (Sternberg Press).
