Foster Road is a wide and fast-moving road in southeast Portland, Oregon. Plans are in the works to make it less of a "freeway" and more people-friendly and bikeable, to better serve the surrounding neighborhoods.
Using the Unity3D game engine, I created an interactive tour of a representative stretch of the road, and a couple of its potential options: a bike lane and a cycle track. Using the flexible and dynamic format of a game engine allows the viewer to jump around to different viewpoints, and switch designs on the fly. The project can be viewed using the Unity3D web player, a widely-used and very reliable plugin.
Which works great unless you're viewing on a mobile format, or simply don't want to install the plugin. In which case you can watch this video in which I play through the virtual tour, and occasionally stumble over my own text.
